Following the latest updates I seem to be getting odd results and strange messages for example:-

The copy scores “0” in the Flesch Reading Ease test. Really!!!!!!!
WordPress word count says 152 Yoast says 353!
The keyword density is 6.5%, which is way over the advised 2.5% maximum; the focus keyword was found 25 times. It actually only appears about 8 times!

This in addition to the fact that the new Title and Description option no longer gives an accurate reading of the length. As it now gives no warning if you exceed the Google limits I thought, maybe, the shaded boxes were designed to provide a guide. WRONG! if you use all the space in either you will exceed the space Google allows so both Title and Description will get cut off or, worse still, Google will use whatever they want so your efforts at writing both is a complete waste of time.

I had always recommended Yoast SEO but after this “Upgrade” I have my doubts.

  • In many of our articles, where the focus keyword appears in both the subtle and a number of times in the text and Yoast says there is 0 density. It does not see the keyword in the subtitle at all. That is repeatedly happening in keywords with an apostrophe, and many others which we don’t see a pattern.

I really don’t care how the plugin sees it, but I worry if how it rates our article seo would affect how Google sees us, which is most critical.

It really is a shame to release a software of such inaccuracy to so large a user base.
