Hi, just wondering if anyone else is experiencing significant slowdown of the WP admin? I work in batches (writing then posting) and when I added new articles last Sept 6 I had no problems.
Today, it takes me anywhere from 2 minutes to 30 minutes to either load a add/edit post page or save draft/update.
I ended up deactivating all plugins and testing each one individually and Yoast was surprisingly the culprit. Both my sites are on sitground and I just updated yoast before I started working today. So, I don’t know if it’s only siteground or just me that’s actually affected.
Anyways, because I currently have no time I’ve resorted to deactivating yoast when editing articles and turning it on again when I log out. Obviously, the new articles don’t have any SEO information.
Just wanted to know if it’s just me or just siteground or anyone else so I can decide what to do.
Thanks.

Hi, we understand you were able to determine that Yoast is not slowing down your site as much as you were expecting. In this manner, we will close this topic in order to keep the overview.

If you run into other issues, we are happy to investigate. We ask that you please create a new topic so that we can respond specifically to your concerns.

@cutu234 @alriksson
We understand there is an open feature request to improve how we run JavaScript on pages under certain conditions (ie not run the ones related to the Gutenberg blocks if the blocks are not present) here https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/14778.

We know we can improve how the plugin runs and performs and we thank you for introducing the request to us. While we are unable to say when the request may be acted on, we can only say that the issue is still open and our developers are aware of this request.

If you have anything else to add to the request, we encourage you to do so.

If you run into any issues unrelated to that request, we are happy to investigate them! We ask that you please make a new topic so we can specifically respond to the issues that are impacting your sites.

Thank you!

@cutu234 Well I guess and hope the idea using Yoast isn’t to have plugins with no post/content on the site. So I hope seeing they take this issue seriously soon.

This is an interesting view. @arzoo wrote that he has to DEACTIVATE Yoast for editing post and pages. Why would you think he’s ok with this “solution”? That’s beyond me.

we are investigating a similar issue. 10s to load a product, disable Yoast and its <2s. I have been through the suggested recommendations and nothing is working. The waterfall shows this as a network issue: data:image/svg+xml;charset=utf-8,%3Csvg width=’1792′ height=’1792′ xmlns=’https://www.w3.org/2000/svg’ aria-hidden=’true’%3E%3Cpath fill=’%23999′ d=’M403 218h691l-26 72H403q-110 0-188.5 79T136 558v771q0 95 60.5 169.5T350 1592q23 5 98 5v72h-45q-140 0-239.5-100T64 1329V558q0-140 99.5-240T403 218zM1254 0h247l-482 1294q-23 61-40.5 103.5t-45 98-54 93.5-64.5 78.5-79.5 65-95.5 41-116 18.5v-195q163-26 220-182 20-52 20-105 0-54-20-106L459 471h228l187 585zm474 558v1111H933q37-55 45-73h678V558q0-85-49.5-155T1477 304l25-67q101 34 163.5 123.5T1728 558z’/%3E%3C/svg%3E

This is a MASSIVE issue, I can’t edit any of my posts because of how terrible yoast destroys typing, I even disabled every single feature inside Yoast, no difference. Only when you entirely remove yoast that it removes the lag.

what is the best alternative to Yoast?

Hi @godsdead

As I said before, this is still a issue for me, you and thousands others…

However, it should be best to open another topic and mention this entry because they seem to prefer to mark topics as “solved” instead of solving it… I don’t think they watch “solved” topics…

Don’t forget to mention you entry here!
