Yoast’s social tab is overriding Social Rocket, and it’s a problem. Can the social tab in Yoast be turned off in Yoast settings? Or can something be done on the backend so that Social Rocket is considered primary over Yoast (without interfering with Yoast’s SEO function)?

Yoast updated its software and now has a title and description box for FB (which I have never filled in). I just realized today that these new boxes also override Social Rocket. Facebook pulls everything from Yoast, and if the boxes are empty, it pulls from Yoast’s SEO tab. So, it’s the wrong information. Is there a way to make Social Rocket primary or fix a setting in Yoast that removes all tabs from Yoast except SEO?

@rbennett There isn’t a way for you to completely disable the social functionality of Yoast SEO, but there are a few things you can do to try to prevent any conflict with another plugin that is handling social metadata.

We’d first recommend for you to disable the Open Graph output of Yoast SEO. Open Graph is they type of metadata that is output for Facebook, and is also used on many other social networking sites. For example, if no Twitter specific metadata is configured, Twitter will default to using Open Graph metadata as well.

To disable the Open Graph output of the Yoast SEO plugin, you would need to perform the following steps:

? In WordPress, go to SEO>Social
? Click on the ‘Facebook’ tab
? For ‘Add Open Graph meta data’ click ‘Disabled’
      ? Click ‘Save changes’

We also have additional information on enabling/disabling Open Graph for Yoast SEO in the following article: https://yoast.com/help/getting-open-graph-for-your-articles/

Also, you may want to remove the default Facebook image configured in Yoast SEO if you have one. To do so you would need to perform the following steps:

? In WordPress, go to SEO>Social
? Click on the ‘Facebook’ tab
? Under ‘Default settings’ for ‘Image URL’ click ‘Clear Image’
      ? Click ‘Save changes’

This setting configures which image is used if the post/page being shared does not contain any images for the Open Graph/Facebook image.
