Yoast WordPress SEO

I cannot get the xml sitemaps to work.
I have WordPress in a “new” subfolder.
There is an htaccess in the root folder along with a index.php to direct the site to the wp folder “new”. In the wp folder there is another htaccess folder.
I do not have a cache plugin installed that would interfere. I have disabled and re-enabled all plugins with no change. I’ve also updated WP permalinks to the post-type and nothing has changed.

I’m running a modified version of a bootstrap wordpress theme that I have customized.

Any help would be appreciated. I’ve searched and tried most suggestions out there and nothing is working.
