Yootheme’s Widgetkit Slowing Down Site

Hi everyone. Widgetkit is adding 30 seconds to site load time. If I deactivate widgetkit, the site loads in a couple seconds. I can compress the images some more, and do a few other things to speed up the site some, but 30 seconds is such a long delay it makes me think something is wrong with Widgetkit. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there a way to speed up widgetkit without removing associated slideshow and gallery? Thanks for any advice.
