"You are not allowed to edit this post" when saving drafts

I’m adding some users with “Author” role on my wordpress site but no one is able to “save drafts”. On each try the user is always receiving the message “You are not allowed to edit this post.”

During my investigations I’ve installed the plugin “User Role Editor” and I found that if I just add the option “edit_others_posts” (which usually belongs to “Editor” role) everything runs as expected.

Anyone know how I can fix this issue? I would like to have just the “Author” role without any other additional options (from other roles)
