• I’m using CF7 upload file extension facility and it works perfectly in Opera but in Firefox it doesn’t display the icon properly and in Chrome it says “you are not allowed to upload files of this type.”

I’ve given permission for.docx files to be uploaded but it still won’t let me on Chrome.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

It displays 72389 when I try and do it, instead of the file name. Don’t understand.

I just successfully sent a test.docx file through the form using the Chrome browser:

    • Are you sure your versions of Chrome and Firefox are up to date?
    • Do you have the [file-377] mail-tag included in the MAIL >> File Attachments field?
    • What happens if you disable all the other contact form-related plugins that are active on the site: Contact Form Maker, Contact Form With Shortcode, and Contact Form Builder?
    • Where do you see the numbers 72389? What did you do before these numbers appeared?

    Yes
    Yes
    Don’t know
I see it in Chrome when I attach the file. In Opera I attach the file and it tells me what I’ve attached before I send it. In chrome it just gives a random 5 digit number and tells me I can’t send it.

The numbers appear as soon as I attach the file, whereas in Opera, the file name displays next to the upload button.

Just tried deactivating all the plugins you said and nothing happens differently

It’s also usually a different 5 digit number depending on the file I try to upload.

With photos it doesn’t work at all.

The numbers appear next to the upload button.

So I’ve no idea how to fix it. I’ve got all the right codes: 377, id-423 etc

Can you screenshot and link to the configuration in the form?
Can you check the error logs to see if there is an entry for when the file upload fails?
Can you test by disabling All other plugins AND activate the WordPress Twenty-Seventeen theme? Does the upload now work?
Are these large MB files you are trying to upload? Can you try uploading a test .docx file will one line of text (i.e. very small kb size)?

OK. I’ve published a careen shot on the page https://nicoscleaningservice.co.uk/work-with-us/
    Very small file

Thanks for that. Can you screenshot the form-tag settings for the file attachment. e.g.

The form-tag looks fine. You’ll need to run through the other steps:

    1. Check the error logs to see if there is an entry for when the file upload fails.
    2. Disable All other plugins AND activate the WordPress Twenty-Seventeen theme? Does the upload now work.
    3. Try uploading a small test .docx file will one line of text (i.e. very small kb size).
