• I have successfully edited my header in this 2022 theme and added a navigation block, but whenever I try to edit the footer or add any other navigation menu anywhere, I get the message:
“you do not have permission to create a navigation menu”

I am the only administrator, the only one with access, I have no idea what this could refer to…

    thank you for any help

  • Hi @mariej

Thank you for your post. Allow me to try and assist you.

These messages were added to be displayed to users without sufficient permissions when they try to create/update the Navigation. This is inline with the way Menus work in classic WordPress where Admin users are the only ones who can access these screens.

That said, I recognise you say you are the only Admin on your site. Can you confirm you are of User Role “Admin”?

Are you able to provide a list of Plugins you may have active?

    Many thanks for your time.

    Hey @mariej

I encountered this problem as well. In my case it is linked to the site URL being different to the installation directory (found under the General settings option). If I change the site URL to the installation directory, then I can edit and make all changes to menus.

The Twenty-Twenty Two theme seems really broken for me in this aspect as my site also won’t display properly with the preferred URL but that’s another problem to sort.

    Hopefully this might help!
    Cheers!!
