• Hello all,

I’ve just moved my site to a new server and installed WP 3.9 along with my old database and getting the error message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page” trying to login to my admin panel.

The site is coming up fine except for some widgets but that’s a easy fix.

I have not changed any of the table prefixes and also have tried deleting all users except my admin role with no fix.

I’ve searched and tried a few old post like below and just wondered if there is something else I can try.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

was the database copy taken from a site that was also using WordPress 3.9?

No, different version…is there a certain file I can look in to see what version I was using?

    No, different version

You need to install the same version of WordPress as db backup was taken from and then upgrade the site once the db has been restored.

I’m not sure which version I was running. Is there any file I can find it in from my backup?

You need to examine the wp-options table in your database and locate the value for the option name db_version.

Ok I got the site up and running, just need to work on the template and widgets (forgot to get my templates folder from the old server… sigh)

I found my version number in the readme.html and downloaded Version 3.8 and inserted the old db thru sql.

Thanks for your help esmi, and also is it safe to upgrade to 3.9.1?

Yes – you should be fine to upgrade now.

I have got same issue while i was transferring my blog website to new domain [Link removed], but after changing folder permission to 755 it works fine.

    Thanks again esmi!

Hi – I’m getting the same message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” But it’s when I’m trying to log into my WordPress dashboard. The last time I posted was on May 27, 2014. Has something changed since then? I haven’t transferred anything or done anything with any code. I don’t know code, but when WordPress asks me to update, I do. And there’s no problem after.

In the past when I got these messages either eventually they went away or I called Yahoo and they would do something from wherever they are. But it’s getting harder and harder to get them to do anything, even if I am a small business customer and this blog is attached to my website. I don’t know where to go for help. I’ve tried Googling and reading the answers and I just don’t understand them. So, I’m asking here in the hopes that someone can point me somewhere.
