I’m noticing that alot of people are experiencing this issue, I had JetPack disconnect, taking with it my custom CSS and it almost brought me to my knees. Now I can’t connect back to wordpress.com. No matter what version or if all plugins are deactivated I always get “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” Does anyone has a resolution for this? I see this issue has been ongoing for almost 4 years. Thanks

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Could you let me know what happens when you click on the Connect button in the Jetpack menu in your dashboard? Do you get an error?

    Thanks!

That’s curious. Do you get the error when clicking on the Connect button, when loading the Jetpack menu, or when loading one of Jetpack’s submenus (like Jetpack > Settings)?

When clicking on the connect button, you’re welcome to test yourself, I’ve done the following

    – deactivated all plugins and tried to connect
    – tried with a lower version of jet pack
    – tried with the lowest version of jet pack
    – verified MySQL level setting was 10
    – confirmed my admin status in MySQL

It just won’t work, usually I can figure these things out but this has me stumped.

I can’t seem to reproduce, unfortunately. Could you try to completely deactivate and delete the plugin, and reinstall it from scratch?

Let me know how it goes.

Where are you attempting to reproduce from? Each installation is different, I have another blog it does work on it just doesn’t work on this one.

Also I’ve tried that as well, several times.

I ran the tests on my own test sites, but I’d be happy to run some tests on your own site as well.

Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

We should then be able to run more tests with you on your site.

    Thanks!

At this point all I can do is install it, it does nothing else even with no plugins activated

Do you happen to run a caching plugin on your site? If so, could you try to flush your site’s cache, and let me know if it helps?

    No caching plugin.

I can deactivate all of these plugins and it still won’t work.

bbPress, Ultimate Member, Ultimate Member – Google reCAPTCHA, and User Switching can change user roles and capabilities on your site. Could you try deactivating these plugins again?

If that doesn’t help, we’ll need to get rid of all Jetpack options that may still be left in your database, and then we’ll try again.
These options are stored in the wp_options table, in the jetpack_options row. You can delete the row to start from scratch.

You can use PHPMyadmin to delete options in your database. Your hosting provider has Some documentation about it here:
    https://www.123-reg.co.uk/support/answers/Databases/Linux-MYSQL/how-do-i-administer-a-mysql-database-4176/
    https://www.123-reg.co.uk/support/answers/cPanel/Databases/how-do-i-login-to-phpmyadmin-on-my-123-reg-vps-3260/

If you don’t feel comfortable making changes in your database manually, you could use this small plugin I just created for you, that will wipe the option from your database as soon as you activate it.
Of course, it’s important that you only use that plugin when the Jetpack plugin is deactivated, otherwise my plugin will keep deleting the options Jetpack tries to create when you activate it ??

    Try the following:

    1. Deactivate the Jetpack plugin in the Plugins menu.
    2. Download this small plugin: https://i.wpne.ws/cF8b
    3. Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload.
    4. Upload and activate my little plugin.
    5. Load your main dashboard page to trigger my plugin.
    6. Go back to the Plugins menu, and deactivate, then delete my plugin.
    7. Activate the Jetpack plugin and try to connect it to WordPress.com.

Let me know how that goes!
