• I can’t attach images to posts. I can upload files via the media manager and link to their url.

This is purely back-end related, and I’m an admin. No one else has any editing or publishing roles on the site.

I’ve checked my file and folder permissions. In the Uploads directory, all files are 644 and all folders are 755. I have already tried turning off all plugins. I even set up a new version of the website (it’s a simple blog), and connected to the original database.

I have three other blogs on the same server (with pair.com), and none share this issue. I’m stumped. Please help.

Decode. But it also happens when I use Twenty Fourteen.

Incidentally, the previously uploaded images are mysteriously disappearing from my Media Library as well. There are dozens in the uploads folders, but the library only shows 2.

Thankfully this thread is still open, because I haven’t resolved the issue yet.

In an attempt to figure this out, I created a fresh WP install on my testing server. Out of the box, the site had no problem importing images to posts.

However, as soon as I imported the WP XML file from the live site, the problem reappeared. Since the fresh install has no plugins, I can only deduce that there’s something in the content that’s causing this. Anyone have any possible explanations?

In case anyone’s reading this, the other thing I discovered to day is that at one point a couple of years ago, the post_id numbers made a sudden jump from a 3-digit number to 10-digits. Turns out, I cannot upload an image to any post with those large numbers. Something screwed up the sequence, and it is hindering my ability to add images to the posts.

    Please, please help.
