    On the WordPress Updates page, I clicked Hide this update, I get a blank page.

    If I click Refresh, I get The link you followed has expired. Please try again.
    This message was triggered by WordPress core.

    From Query Monitor, I get
    Call stack:

    1. wp_die()
      wp-includes/functions.php:3592
    2. wp_nonce_ays()
      wp-includes/pluggable.php:1274
    3. check_admin_referer()
      wp-admin/update-core.php:109

    This repeats despite clearing the browser cache. How can this be fixed?

  • Long time ago, I’ve had a similar issue with Update Notifications that couldn’t be hidden.

    This is because when the update is interrupted but the update is successful, the problem is that the system does not recognize that the update already done.

    Hello Adam,

    Thanks for the suggestion. I had already tried that, but it results in a blank page, which if refreshed results in the same message as shown above from Query Monitor.

    Problem solved. I had recently changed this site from a domain to a subdomain using WordPress 6.1 and because the latest back-up had problems, I had used an older backup from my LAMP server. This had been made when WordPress had just released Version 5.0, which was not compatible, and I had added some code to the theme functions.php file to prevent core updates > version 4.9.9 from appearing, so as to avoid accidental updating. This code was still in the functions file and removing it has fixed the problem.
