I appear to be getting the same issue others have had. I could not post a forum topic as Admin. In the end I deleted the plugin manually to allow me to post (was unable to delete from the plugins page).

Having now reinstalled the plugin it is not showing on any forum post page but is active as I get the error again “You must enter the correct Captcha”.

I have now deactivated and deleted the Toolbox for Asgaros Forum – No change
I deactivated your Recaptcha – No change

I tried to delete your Recaptcha – not allowed

I deleted your Recaptcha manually – Can now post again

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@hiteshchandwani – Thanks for getting back to me. I had deactivated and deleted the plugin as it was not showing on a new topic page. I have reinstalled it am am using v2. When I re-installed the api keys were already applied so some configuration must exist somewhere that stored this information even though I had removed the plugin by deleting the plugin folder

It still does not show on the page and is not blocking the admin user nor is it blocking a standard user.

The plugin is no longer working for me at all.

So the Captcha has come back (cache has expired), and I am getting the error again. If you want to provide me with another way to get hold of you, I will give you a log on to the Forum

I installed 1.0.4 with reCAPTCHA v3. Nothing happened for a while, and then as the page caches expired, we got the same error (“You must enter the correct Captcha”) and users were no longer able to post on the forum.

Again of interest, I deactivated the plugin with no change, it appeared to be still active. I assume this was because of cached pages (purging the caches does not appear to change the behaviour). I then tried to delete the plugin and got the error that I cannot delete the plugin as it was on a running site. So I then removed the plugin folder from the wpcontent/plugins directory on the server and users were able to post again.

    Hello @anguscs,

It’s not possible that plugin functions are active when the plugin is deactivated as the plugin functions load only when plugin is active. Please try removing/deactivating cache plugin(s) and work with that. Is could be possible that the cache plugin is caching reCaptcha response itself and that’s why getting error.

Also we don’t have any trigger to prevent deleting on the plugin code so please check if you have any additional plugins/settings which could prevent deletion.

Try those and let me know if those does not work then I can troubleshoot further if you can provide access.

    Regards,
    Hitesh

Thank you for working with me on this. So yesterday, I thought that the Caching was an issue and I installed the plugin and cleared the caches. The V3 symbol was there and I got the error. I changed to V2, cleared the caches and tried again. The tick box was there and I got the same error. I deactivated the plugin and cleared the caches (indicators went away), I deleted the plugin and cleared the caches.

Following your update today, I have removed the caching tool, reinstalled the plugin and followed the same tests:

    V3 – indicator present – same error
    V2 – tickbox present – same error
deselected “enable for logged in users?” – the error goes away and I was able to post.

Since the forum is only for logged in users, I am happy with this outcome and will leave it installed and activated. It will error for any user who is not logged in who does somehow work out how to be able to post.

For your information, I have now published the forum for public viewing (some of it) so you should be able to get to the forum on the link I originally posted with the first post in this thread. I would like to have reCAPTCHA enabled for logged in users as well if possible, so will continue to work with you to see if we can resolve my issues.

I can provide you with a log in if you can give me an alternate contact should you need it

    1. wp login (admin)
    2. FTP

I will look into to see what could be an issue as it is working with all those cases.
