Thank you for the file and details. Your file is fine (I am able to import it).

Can you try activating this plugin one more time? This usually resolve the issue: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/disable-real-mime-check/

Otherwise there is probably something odd going on with the server. Test on a different server (ie. your online host instead of localhost).

I activated the plugin, but as I can see from the code, the code for this plugin is already present in your plugin. I tested on my server there is a problem too (unfortunately I can’t provide a link or login information) maybe you tell me what you need to configure or enable on the server to work.

Perhaps you should make an import just by inserting the code from the exported file and then there will be no problems.

    sorry for my English

The code is present but only used for certain versions of WordPress that required it due to a bug. I am unsure why this is happening on your servers. Would it be possible for you to provide me with WP admin and FTP access to a test install of WordPress on your server?

Your idea for a text box to paste into is very good. That would give every user who encounters this error without remedy a second option that should always work. I am going to look at updating the plugin in a couple weeks. Thank you for sharing your idea.

thanks for your time, I will probably wait for updates if you think to add an alternative method. Perhaps your plugin is on the GitHub, I could try to add such a feature.

Please feel free to submit a pull request: https://github.com/churchthemes/widget-importer-exporter. You might get to it sooner than I do.

    I’m releasing 2.6 today. It has a copy/paste field.

Thank you very much, you are the best. I think that this feature will benefit your plugin and relieve the load on support with a file format problem.

You’re welcome and thank you for the idea. Yes, I think it will help! I intend to look again at the upload issue to see about getting it working for everyone all the time. I can replicate the issue myself now on two servers, so that’s a start.

I have the same issue in latest wordpress beta…. the plugin resolves the issue but why are you only applying the disable_real_mime_check for wp 471 up to wp 473. Why not change the code in the widget importer exporter plugin to apply this for all wp versions on import so the issue does not occur anymore?

This is a very annoying issue. I have seen it now in serveral websites running a newer or latest wordpress build than 4.7.x

Security. WordPress had a bugs in those versions that required a workaround. It should not be necessary for newer versions. Be sure to uninstall the plugin after using it. I have not been able to determine why this issue still happens on some servers but there are multiple workarounds (paste text, MIME plugin). If you have some time to work on the problem then please feel free to submit a pull request on GitHub.
