    Hello,

For some time now as a admin, I have no access to certain parts of a attribute in woocommerce attributes. For example, I have a attribute called ‘Ring size’ and I don’t have access to some parts of the attributes there. For example I can’t access whole numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, but I can access 3 1/4 and 3 1/2 and so on. This is causing giant problems to the website. Any ideas how to fix this? I feel like I tried everything. What going on?! HELPPPPPP =/

    Keep getting this annoying message;

You need a higher level of permission. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this

I tried to reset roles, what not and nothing helps. Thank you for any help!

  • Hi @benartp

When this situation arises, it is often following a recent update to a theme, plugin, or WordPress core.

You may see the “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page” message for a variety of reasons. It might be that WordPress doesn’t recognize you as an Administrator. In other situations, the information contained in your site’s core code or in a theme or plugin may not match what’s in your database.

Additional causes include incorrect information in your wp-config.php file or a site that’s running an outdated version of PHP. Whatever the source, this error may prevent you from accessing the entire admin area or just a portion of it.

This post will help guide you through steps to take to resolve this issue:

    I hope that helps!

    Thank you for your reply.

I have no other issues in WordPress as the Administrator. Only very specific attributes between them ‘Ring size’ inside that attribute it’s the whole numbers which I can’t access. For example 5, 6, 7, 8, etc. The other numbers 5 1/3 are accessible.

In the ‘size’ attribute term, every term is not accessible.

This means that all new products can’t have issues with attributes – variations to choose size and material, which is a big problem. The attributes are not imported to the product variations. Also in Material attribute term, the 14k white gold, etc are not accessible.

Most other attributes are working fine. That’s the only you have no permission to access note I ever received. Everything else works just fine.

Is there a way to restart / clean / remove specific attributes behind the scenes at the backend? Because I currently even delete the attribute.

I have tried the updated PHP version, but this didn’t help.

    I tried disabling?plugins, this still didn’t work.

Also the 604 640 file permissions are set correctly.

It feels like it’s a woocommerce issue, not connected to another plugin.

    What you wrote about –

    • The information contained in your site’s core code or in a theme or plugin may not match what’s in your database.

That might be possible, how would I be able to edit/adjust the database? Where do I find the database?file to check the attribute terms?Maybe if I remove the problematic?attributes, then recreate them it will solve the issue. Can you help me locate the database file in the backend (FTP) what is it called and under which directory is it placed?I couldn’t find it manually on the host server behind the scene on FTP.
How would I resolve?this issue? It’s a problem for all our products.

    I greatly?appreciate your help.

    Have a nice day,

    Ben

Just to clarify, are the Product attributes entered using the core WooCommerce functionality (documentation linked here), or another plugin?

What version of WooCommerce is currently active on the site? Kindly note that the latest is version 7.2.2, as of a few hours ago.

There are plenty of useful tools, as buttons on the screen found at WooCommerce > Status > Tools. Among them is the button named “Update Database”. Feel free to go ahead with using the functionality on that screen after creating a backup, just in case.

I trust that points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know. We’re happy to help.
