  • Sounds like there are only negative posts except for yours, are you the plugin author, part of his team or his lawyer? lOL

    he doesn’t spam

Chris wouldn’t agree with you “@funvill thank you! i made the mistake of registering a long while ago for another one of his plugins and i never could stop getting spammed with their “news letter”.”

finally the end of this thread

Hmm, only a moderator can call it quits… And I hope one doesn’t, people need to find out the true nature behind this “gift” (with strings attached) to the WP community.

    Cheers,
    Gene

As for users (…) hacking sombebodys code to simply avoid registering. Its not acceptable.

    Hey, ever heard of GPL?!

Every week a mail from Maxpress ?? hoho~~ Just filter it ??

    Hey, ever heard of GPL?!

Ever heard of honest programmers that believe in a No-Spam policy?

Every week a mail from Maxpress ?? hoho~~ Just filter it ??

LOL, goes with the rest of the garbage, such as the cheap Viagra ads and other Spam.
Garbage is garbage and some guy standing on his soapbox preaching the virtues of Net marketing deserves to be blacklisted.

FWIW I’m happy with the plugin itself, and don’t mind the approach the author switched to, to get more possible customers/subscribers. If there had been a lot of hoops to jump through, or it was some sort of bait&switch thing, I’d have been pissed off, but overall its OK.

I can understand the comments from people who are used to plain old vanilla FREE and easy to access code, but the author does seem to have been given a bit of a roasting here.

(Not related to MaxBlogPress in anyway, just a happy WP user hoping to provide a little balance.)

@funvill: The wp-options in my phpMyAdmin shows a record set as the type for option_value. How did you enter an integer in option_value?

I don’t need the answer myself, since I used Arraviv’s edit, but some people are more comfortable with cPanel, and might be running into the same problem I did.

This is a great plugin. I wish I knew enough PHP to remove all of the registration-related code. Arraviv’s version is leaves most of it intact. Since it’s GPL’d, we need to get a cleaned-up, registration-free version hosted here. Then MBP could still distribute their spamware while those who’d rather not be on a mailing list could download the noncommercial version.

This site is a total pain in the buttocks. Even if you do try the link to unscubscribe, it won’t let you. If you use the site that apparently is erm … an anti spam policy…your email will not go through.

I have then just blocked their ip and email from my email gateways. Too much issue.

If you don’t like MaxBlogPress’s offering, there are other plugins to customize the number of posts per page:
    Custom Post Limits (but it doesn’t deal with the sorting order of posts);
Custom Query String Reloaded (already mentioned in this thread; works well for many, but not so well for me).
