You need to tick the checkbox

Hello!
I get this message in admin:
‘You need to tick the checkbox When creating an account, automatically generate a username from the customer’s email address when having the Allow customers to create an account during checkout setting activated. This can be changed in the Accounts & Privacy tab’
The checkout form contains a field for the users to choose their own user name, so I can not understand why I need to do this? Could some one please make this clear for me.
