I’m tempted to make what I believe is an informed assumption and subsequently fly off the handle about this new “feature,” but I instead am going to ask the developer for clarification in case I’m wrong:

The “Your homepage cannot be indexed by search engines” message seems, as far as I can tell (in my case, anyway) not at all accurate/true, and seems instead to be a fear-mongering tactic aimed at coercing Yoast users into creating accounts at OnPage.org. As far as I can tell, my robots.txt file is accessible and in the exact same shape in which it was prior to this latest Yoast update.

I am hopeful that the developer can clearly and concisely refute this hypothesis (preferably with evidence to back up that assertion), because I very much would like to be wrong about this.

Edited to include: I am not using WordFence (which other users apparently have determined is the source of their encounter with this error message).

I am beginning to get the same feeling myself. There should be an immediate fix considering the number of threads on the topic, or at least a sticky post.

I, too, am hoping your post will garner a response because, despite laying out multiple details to the error, I didn’t get one.

Yes this is a scam. They force you to go on OnPage.org page, create account there and register your website. This onpage is super noob website. It scan your site under Google Bot so you cannot even notice that. Then they will tell you how your site is full of bugs, but in fact most of the errors are timeouts on their side… Onpage is full of paid services so this is clear try from Yoast to make more money on you. The most funny thing is that if you want to unsubscribe from Onpage they will tell you that they will continue with their spying on your site for another 30 days. So do not go there!

Plus I would like to know if spying on sites “as Google Bot” is even ethic and if Google knows about this and approve it. I do not think so…

@pavelcz1982 you have already posted your own thread. If you continue to hijack other threads, especially at the magnitude you have been every single night (all of your other replies have been deleted by the way), we will have to block your account.

Please be civil and wait for the folks behind Yoast SEO to reply to you along with everyone else.

@james Huff. Yoast obviously broken many sites, including mine. They do not communicate, they even did not apologize. There is no info about how and when do they plan to fix this situation. And most important they obviously use non ethical ways (OnPage.org) how to make more money on us.

If you think that warning other users about this is “hijacking” then there is something wrong with you, especially if you threaten me with deleting of my account…

    Have a good day ??

You aren’t “warning other users,” you’re jumping into threads that share your views (or come close to it) and saying “me too” simply to amplify your own stance.

Not only does that not help Yoast reply to you any sooner, it hurts every single thread you reply to by decreasing the age of the thread, and it takes up time the volunteer moderators could use to fight spam and help people who actually need/want it.

We simply ask that you make your concerns known once, and that you wait patiently for Yoast to reply, like everyone else has.

If that is too difficult, there are plenty of other SEO plugins out there.

there are plenty of other SEO plugins out there.” You know better than me that hours and hours of work on SEO is not easy to migrate to another SEO plugin. So please do not argue with this. I would expect better aguments from WordPress moderator actually.

help people who actually need/want it.” please help us, do not block us. leave important info as mine for others. do you know how many people will now register on OnPage.org and realise same thing as me, because you simply deleted those comments? that is not help we deserve and expect.

    Your opinions are noted.

Please note that every time you reply to jzahlaway’s thread, you are pushing it to the back of the line. Yoast will reply to threads starting with the oldest, and every reply resets the age of this thread to 0.

Please take note of this and stop replying to other people’s threads with the same reply over and over again, otherwise we will take action to protect their threads. I’m sorry, but sometimes moderators have to moderate things. Please don’t be the thing we moderate.
