Hi, one of my clients alerted me this morning that my events are now all displaying a 404 error – when i went to investigate, i saw that The Events Calender was no longer on my list of plugins in the WP Admin page, and when i tried to reinstall the plugin , got the message that it cannot be done, as the files already exist in the database – and yes, at the very backend of my site, the Events Calender plugin folder is still there, but its no longer working.

Please assist in fixing this ASAP?

    Thanks

    Thank you for reaching out.
    Yikes!

It looks like something went wrong during the update process.
The first thing I would recommend is downgrading to a previous version: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/accessing-older-plugin-versions/

You might have to manually delete the plugin using FTP or CPanel’s file manager before you can downgrade.

Another option would be to get the help of your WebHost to remove the folder located under /wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar.

Once that is done, you should be able to downgrade and even re-attempt the upgrade.
With that in mind, we always recommend testing upgrades on a staging site to keep your live site safe at all times: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/creating-and-using-a-wordpress-staging-site/

Let us know how that goes,

    Hi Geoff
Thank you very much, deleting the plugin file from my file manager like you suggested, and then first uploading the previous version, and then updating the plugin, seems to have worked – only remaining issue, is that my maps no longer display, but at least people can see my events again!!

Any odeas on how i can get my maps working again will be greatly appreciated!

    Kind regards

    Hi @watershare

I checked your site and I see some errors in the console connected to minification.

As a first step, I would recommend turning minification off and disabling any kind of caching you might have. Then check if the map shows up.

Let me know what you find.

    Cheers,
    Andras
