Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with their own IP being blocked or blacklisted after moving to a multisite setup? My host keeps blacklisting my IP because their software is telling them I’m hacking the site (even though I’m logged in through WP).

Any suggestions about what to do? I’m not sure if this is a hosting issue or something related to the multisite. Thanks for any ideas!

  • I don’t see how moving to MultiSite may cause this issue. I believe that this may be related to restrictive security they have imposed at the server side. They may be using mod_security, and you are triggering one of the rules. Basically intense activity may be considered a threat for your site.

The other cause may be around a security plugin that you may use. If you are using one, try to temporary disable it and to see if the problematic behaviour will stop.

Finally, your host should help you more with the troubleshooting, it’s their job ??

Great, thanks for those ideas. I’ve done a lot of negotiating with my host, and they keep saying it is my fault so I will keep searching through my plugins. I thought it was probably to be connected to the multisite setup, but it’s good to know I can cross that off the list. Thanks again.
