TranslatePress stores translations at the string level. Therefore, any modification to the original string invalidates its translation as the original string is no longer identifiable. This feature ensures the integrity and relevance of your translations.
As a result, should you modify a string in your default language that was previously translated, the translations will not appear anymore at the front-end level. However, they will still exist in the wp_trp_* tables of your database.
To assist with translation retrieval, we have the Translation Memory feature. If you opt to revise a translated string, the Translation Memory feature will propose translation suggestions for that string, even based on strings no longer visible in the front end. This process means you will likely see the previous translation as the first suggestion.
Please note that translation memory is approximate, based on strings in the database, and may not always be accurate.
We now also offer support for minor edits. If changes on the original string do not exceed more than 5% of the entire string, the translations will stay connected to that string. This setting requires the enabling of the Automatic Translation Memory in TP Settings –> Advanced Tab –> Miscellaneous Options but it’s not applicable to translation blocks.
