Since a year now, I have been having REAL issues with updating the MailPoet plugin. I have since updated it manually once and once I was able to update it via the WordPress Updates page. In between I have been getting errors while I tried to update it via the WordPress Updates page.

Currently I want to update, but I cant. I keep getting critical errors. Only with the MailPoet plugin. But as it seems to work, I can live with it.

    Until now:

Two things happened. One is that I can’t seem to be send a preview of my latest newsletter to myself, while the sending service works and WordPress does send out test emails to me, just the MailPoet plugin not.

Secondly, this email from a few weeks ago:

    Howdy!

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, MailPoet 3 (New).

First, visit your website (https://landcruisingadventure.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://landcruisingadventure.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 5.4.1
    Current theme: GeneratePress (version 2.4.2)
Current plugin: MailPoet 3 (New) (version 3.42.0)
    PHP version 7.3.17

    Can anyone help me?

Okay, I updated manually again, but the error persists. -> I can’t send a preview email to myself.

Test emails from WordPress itself and from the sending service (SendGrid) from within the MailPoet plugin does work.

What else can be wrong? It always worked before?

    Hi Coen,

Can you send a test email to someone else?
I had the same experiance that I could not sent a test email which has the same email address as as the admin of the site.
Also the error suggests that your SQL server did not response anymore
    Hope this can help you.

    Hello Peter,

    Thank you for responding.

Yes! that worked… So why is that?

Strange that it doesn’t let you send an test email to the same email address as the admin of the site.

It always worked like this before, what has changed?

Anyway, for now there is a workaround.

    Thank you again!

I suspect it has been altered to prevent spam.
    Glad to be of help
    Have a nice weekend!
