YouTube block only shows video URL

  • Hi. I’ve tried adding a YouTube block to a post and it only shows the YouTube video URL. If I switch my theme to Twenty Twenty, it shows the embedded video. Any way to get this working?

    I haven’t seen this error or had other reports of it before, so I don’t think it’s related to the theme. I have experienced issues myself with the Youtube block not working particularly when embedding URLs of scheduled videos.

    As a workaround, you can embed an HTML block and use the regular Youtube embed code rather than copying and pasting the URL. It won’t give you the preview in the editor, but it will look the same on the site.

    Weird. Tried again today with other embed URL’s and it worked. Must’ve been the particular video I was testing with. Thanks for the reply!

    Sure thing! If it happens again you can always fall back to the HTML embed code which always works.
