Hi, is there a way to block youtube cookies until the ‘i agree’ button is clicked? I’ve managed the google analytics option but can’t see a way to block youtube cookies routinely without having to edit youtube embed code for every new video I post.

    Thanks

    Unfortunately no.
That’s why I added the third-party cookie section for cookie categories.

So you could link back to the provider instructions on how to opt out or their privacy policies.

Thats a shame, as far as I know you’re not supposed to load cookies until consent is given. So how is this going to be possible with youtube and other google services?

Well, there’s only so much you or I can do. These services need to provide tools to handle these things.

Twitter, for example, is showing a notification before playing videos. Which is great.

As far as I read, Google is only taking steps to people in the EU. I’m not sure if you try this again using a VPN pretending that you are in the EU if youtube will behave differently or not.

Actually if you look here, cookies for multimedia playback are exempt: https://ec.europa.eu/ipg/basics/legal/cookies/index_en.htm
