• Youtube simply does not work normally on my blog. The video shows up in preview mode, if you manually click on the post title, or after the “jump.” Other than that, it shows up as blank. Check it out: elbrooklyntaco.com.

    If you load the main page, you will not see a youtube video. If you click on the post link, ta-da, it appears. No idea why this happens.

    I suspect that the person who installed my wordpress blog did not do it correctly. There are a few other little things about my blog that aren’t quite right as a result, but I have no idea how to correct them either.

    Thoughts?

  • @bklyntaco I’m not sure if this is the case without seeing the theme files but it maybe the case that the homepage is pulling in them excerpt tag or a variation of the code, which is causing the embedded media to be stripped out. Then on the actual post page the content tag is being used meaning all of the content is rendered.

    As I say without seeing the code this could be off the mark, I do suspect this is the cause though.

    Hey JD, thanks for the suggestion. Do you know what I should look for? I’m assuming I need to open up the editor and delete the excerpt tag…

    @bklyntaco

    Yep, ideally replace it with the content tag, as I say I’ve no idea what the themes files look like so you may need to look for a file called front-page.php possible a custom page template or even index.php to find the contents of the homepage.

    Sorry I can’t really be any more specific, working a tad blind :).

    I do suspect it’s the index.php you’ll need to investigate.

    Hey Jeff – would you be interested in helping me clean up my blog? I suspect the person I hired to set it up didn’t know what she was doing. I have a list of things that need to be fixed, but it should be quick. If you’re interested, let me know your rate.
