• Encountered an interesting issue today. I’m getting ready to host a livestream via YouTube next week and I’m embedding the upcoming video on a page with the stock Gutenberg editor (not using the plugin).

The embedded video displays in 4:3, cutting off the YouTube thumbnail we are using. I can embed already published YouTube videos and the aspect ratio is 16:9, showing the thumbnails correctly. I tried embedding someone else’s upcoming video (Questlove’s live DJ set, if anyone is looking for some awesome music during this lockdown) and it displayed in 4:3 as well.

Has anyone else encountered this, and is there a fix? Or is this something coming from YouTube?

Sizes on default embeds come from YouTube, essentially. It’s weird that they’re defaulting to 4:3 still, but sorta makes sense.
