Youtube embed keeps playing even after close

I created a modal and works great with the following exception:

When i hit the modal to pop up it pops up with the video.
I can click to play and it plays fine. If i exit out, i can still hear the video playing in the background. Clicking the modal again shows the video playing.

Is there a way to close out the session without having to stop the video first before you close out?
