    Hello,

First, thank you for this amazing theme and your hard work.

Recently, I encountered very small and probably very much niche issue(?).

I discovered that YouTube embeds in posts, written and made in old classic editor are shown in wrong, unusual aspect ratio and thumbnails are cut off.

On mobile, they are very narrow and long. On desktop, quite “squareish”. I attached pictures at the end.

When I convert these old posts into Gutenberg blocks, everything is fine and embedded YouTube videos are shown correctly on front-end.

Thus, it probably has something to do with the way Blocksy handles old, pre-gutenberg posts with YouTube embeds.

I tried playing around with all layout settings, content area width etc. and nothing seemed to help.

I tried it in different themes like the Twenty Twenty Three, Kadence or Neve. They work fine, it’s just Blocksy showing them this way.

Is there any possible fix for this or am I overlooking something?

In normal circumstances, I would just convert all old posts into blocks and it would be fine, but the website is about film and TV, running since 2016 with hundreds and hundreds of posts with embedded YouTube.

    Anything that can he done?

Apologize for taking your time with this small issue.

Thanks for any update or advice.

  • Hello @richv22

What you are experiencing is somewhat correct, as Blocksy does not support the classic editor because it is legacy technology. We won’t be able to add much support for this old editor, as it can mess with lots of other integrations in the process.

If you can link me to the website that’s affected, I may be able to give you some CSS to fix this. Though, the ultimate and recommended solution would be to convert the site to the new, block based editor as that is fully supported.

    Thanks.

    Hi @cteduard

Thank you for confirming that it’s basically intended behavior and not a bug.

Thank you very much for your offer to find a custom CSS solution for my website, but I really don’t want to take more of your time, especially for something so trivial.

    Have a great week!
