YouTube video embed outside post content

Hi,
YouTube video URLs added to the post content are working fine for me – videos display and adapt to the width of the device. However, adding the URLs outside the post content seems to be tricky.
I also have YouTube URLs added in a custom field which I display wrapped in wp_oembed_get() before/outside the post content. The video ist displayed but auto-sizing doesn’t work.
I’d like to avoid having to extract the YouTube video ID from the URL in order to be able to use amp-youtube (I use Vimeo as well…) – anything I’m missing here?

Good question. As you saw, there isn’t currently a good way to convert tags to their AMP equivalent outside of the post content, when using the most common templating system, legacy templating.The embed handlers are registered only for the post content:

You might instantiate those before you output YouTube URLs. Then call
->register_embed()before outputting the URLs, and->unregister_embed()right after. But that might not be a simpler solution than simply constructing the<amp-youtube>elements.You could use this conditional to differentiate between the AMP and non-AMP content.
