Youtube video instead of thumbnail

You can’t do this right through WordPress using the media library or the featured image functionality.

But you could edit your theme to use custom fields to do this. Just check out one of the many custom field for thumbnails tutorials, and use a video instead of image.

There are some good themes out there that are designed for displaying videos and might already have this functionality.
