I am using the latest version of timeline express with scripts for HTML excerpts and I can not get videos to load. They show in the admin but will not load in the timeline (there is space for them) Any thoughts on what might be removing them.

I say removing them since the code for the video as embed or iframe does not show in pages source.

    Thanks for any help

    Hi Pgorrell,

Does any other HTML work in the content area?

    If you add <h2>Testing</h2>

Does the text ‘Testing’ get placed in an h2 tag?

Also, can you share a link to your timeline?

    Thanks,
    Evan

My iframe code gets stripped out when I save the post. A href tag works fine. Shortcodes are also stripped.

I tried to add more customfields using the method described here https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/timeline-express/other_notes/ but html is stripped from there as well. Need to find a way to add video and audio to the timeline. Is it possible to display the normal custom field interface when editing a new announcement, like on a regular post?

    Hi mskogly,

Take a look at the following documentation we have which enables HTML excerpts. These don’t get stripped and have no limit to there lengths:
    https://www.wp-timelineexpress.com/documentation/enable-html-excerpts/

Let me know if that helps!

    Thanks,
    Evan

I did add that code and it works well on strong, img and many other tags, but iframe, embed and audio gets stripped. I also added some more customfields, but the problem is the same there. If I make a regular post and use the built in customfield function in wordpress, the iframe code from youtube goes through fine.

(I’m fiddling with other ways to do this now, by adding just the id of youtube clips and then builing the iframe and audio code in timeline-express-container.php)

(this link may not show timeline express in the future, the post is reused for testing purposes)

mskogly – the link you posted show the youtube video working – did you solve the issue or is that an older version of timeline-express.

If you solved it? Would you mind sharing the code? I am still fighting this issues for a client.

    Hi pgorrel,

Did you implement the custom HTML snippet outlined in the documentation link above?

    Thanks!

Yes and it worked for everything except videos and googlemaps. The frame code was removed in both cases.

Do the YouTube videos and Google Maps work in your standard post or pages? I don’t believe they should be getting stripped out.

I can take a look and see what may be going on. Can you try switching themes and re-checking?

    Thanks,

Yes just get stripped in the timeline express box. working with an enfold theme if that makes a difference but they map and youtube videos work in regular post and pages.

I can’t seem to figure out why your youtube videos would be stripped, especially if they are working in standard posts and pages. It sounds like a theme conflict, or some other plugin is stripping the tags.

If you’d like, feel free to reach out to us and we can try and figure things out via email. It may require getting a copy of the theme to do some testing on our end.

If you’d like to give things a shot, feel free to reach out via the contact form on my site – and we can discuss what may be going on:
