Zakra 3.0 child theme issues – example also does not work

Hi all,
I have issues getting my child theme compatible with Zakra 3.0. Looks like I’m always missing some css (ex. menu icons are extremely large).
However, I have downloaded the (How to add custom code to the theme using Child Theme? | Zakra Knowledgebase (zakratheme.com). This shows the same behavior!
Has anyone else seen this?
Has the example been updated for Zakra 3.0?
