• This plugin makes API calls to api.zemanta.com
Recently, that URL no longer exists. Thus the API calls will fail.
One of the API calls didn’t do the appropriate checks and caused the server error 500.

I don’t know if zemanta has changed owner or revamped their services, and also this plugin is no longer actively supported by the author.

As precaution, I would suggest www.ads-software.com to review the security risks involved and to decide whether to remove this plugin.

  • I enjoyed learning how to hack around this problem from this community, but as mocax says, it’s foolish to continue to use a clearly unsupported plugin. I Switched to Relivanssi by Mikko Saari and it’s working well (and it’s in active development!)

@nosillacast – How difficult was it to switch over to Relivanssi from Search Everything?

it wasn’t any work at all. I just installed Relivanssi and uninstalled Search Everything. There are lots of little switches to set how you want the search to be conducted in an interface that’s intuitive. I just got an update to Relivanssi which is the most important thing to me – a cared-for plugin!
