    Hi there,

just migrated my site and started using mailpoet on my live website. Although all users are unsubscribed I get the message that I need to upgrade my free plan. Meanwhile no emails are sent, so I need to deactivate als my mailpoet forms and registration functions.

    What can I do?

    Hi @vgnpws,

I found a MailPoet.com account associated with your domain (veganpaws.de), however, the only subscription you have on your account has been set to be canceled and is not currently active on any website.

I see the problem is that in the past week, you have sent emails to more than 2,154 unique recipients, which is way over you’re allowed to when sending with the free version of the plugin. Because of that, the limit is set not regarding the number of subscribers you have in the plugin, but the number of subscribers you’ve sent emails to through our servers. In this case, sending is blocked?for the next 30 days, and you should receive a notification email from us about it. You can either wait for sending to be reactivated or upgrade your plan to a higher one.

    Hi there,

    thanks for the reply.

I am aware of the limits. But I did not send any emails to my customers. Not willingly. After I set up the registration email for DOI, the mails were send automatically. At first I was not even aware that this would happen. Do not know if that is the normal procedure, but it does not make any sense to me.

In my opinion, a registration email should only be send when a customer actively wants to register for a newsletter. And not because they already have a customer account in a store, for example, and are automatically added to a list. I would like to leave it up to my customers to decide whether they want to receive a registration email and sign up or not.

I may have missed the explanation of this behavior in the documentation. In this case my bad.

Be that as it may, I unfortunately had to uninstall and delete the plugin as I no longer have any use for it.

    Anyways, many thanks!

    Hi @vgnpws,

Sorry for any confusion! The reason these emails were sent to existing subscribers is most likely because the double opt-in feature was enabled: https://kb.mailpoet.com/article/128-signup-confirmation-double-opt-in-feature.

The purpose is to ensure your subscribers willingly joined your email list. If you don’t use double-opt-in, these messages are more likely to end up in the spam folder.

I hope this helps and you reconsider your decision to stop using MailPoet.
