Bloatware Zip AI was integrated into Spectra in the latest update without warning, announcement, or ability to truly remove. (Their “disable” feature does nothing to actually remove it from the Tools menu, where it was snuck in.)

It was bad enough once Spectra forced its root level menu item up near the top (between Pages and Appearance), rather than staying in the Tools or Settings section where it was initially and, more importantly, belongs. The also added a different feature previously with no ability to disable that we had to lobby for months to get addressed (a true disable was finally added).

This now though is the last straw.

A 1-star review is deserved, along with a promise to remove this plugin from all of our client sites where it’s currently in use. The limited set of actually used blocks are, for us, easily replaced.

    Hello @rambillo

I’m Mehedi Hasan, from Spectra team.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about the Zip AI integration into Spectra. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused you.

In response to your feedback, I’m happy to share that we will be releasing a new update soon, possibly today or tomorrow, that will address your concerns. With this update, the Zip AI menu will be moved from under Tools to under Spectra itself. This will allow you to easily disable the ZipAI editor sidebar if you choose not to use it.

Additionally, the new version of Spectra will not load any resources for Zip AI if you do not use it. This means that there will be no performance impact on your site.

We value your feedback and are committed to making Spectra a better experience for all users. We hope that you will give the new update a try and let us know what you think.

It would be heartbreaking to see you go! Please don’t leave. You may choose not to use Zip AI, and that is perfectly fine. Zip AI will remain a submenu under Spectra, just like any other menu.

Thank you again for your feedback. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

    Regards,
    Mehedi Hasan

Even if you disable it, some things are still loaded. Please adjust the plugin so the Zip AI bloatware is not loaded at all if you disable it. Better yet, disable it by default, and only install it when a user decides to enable it.

I would like to add an important point that further underscores the severity of this issue. Even after opting to disable the AI functionality, users are still being coerced into creating an account. This is not just an infringement upon user choice, but it represents a fundamental flaw in the design and policy of the plugin. It’s essential that such a requirement is removed, especially for those who choose not to utilize the AI features. This approach is overly intrusive and unacceptable.
