    Hi Tobias,
Thanks for all your hard work, this is an amazing plugin.
I am uploading a zip file containing 650 tables ordered alphanumerically, when unpacked the last three files of the 650 are assigned to tables 1,2&3 with the remaining 647 files being assigned 4 to 650. This happens with a new installation of the plugin. Is there a way to keep the uploaded order when assigning table id’s?
    Regards,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

During the import from a ZIP file, TablePress obeys the order of the files as they are in the ZIP file. This is not necessarily the alphabetic order, but the order in which the files where added to the ZIP file. Especially on Windows, this can apparently be off a little bit, as in your case, depending on how the files were added to the ZIP archive.
This can obviously not be influenced by TablePress.

I therefore suggest that you play around with various ways of adding the files to the ZIP archive. Maybe you can somehow sort them in your ZIP program, so that they are stored in the desired order.

If that does not help, why don’t you simply change the IDs of the tables 1, 2, and 3 to numbers 651, 652, and 653. That way, the order should be correct, just with a slight offset in the numbers.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Thanks Tobias,
What is important here is to have a consistent outcome as the school will do a complete replacement of files once a year apart from individual updates of tables during the year. I seem to have some consistency now using 7 zip’s way of ordering. I am going ahead now and changing my coding to match this order.
Thanks for your advice and great support.
Once I have all this setup and working I am sure we can get you a cup of coffee.

    Tony

    Hi Tony,

ok, I see. Then it’s indeed a matter of getting the ZIP files have the right order. Good to hear that 7Zip seems to help here!

(As a side note: I’m working on extracting the desired table ID from the file name. That will then probably be helpful as well. Hopefully, I’ll be able to make that possible in a future version.)

And thanks for wanting to donate, I really appreciate it!

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
