Zotpress and Simply Static Plugin/Caching Plugins

TLDR: Is there any way to get Zotpress to work with Simply Static or WP Super Cache plugin?

I use a Multisite installation together with the Simply Static plugin (2.1.0) to manage my WordPress websites.

I would like to use Zotpress on my academic homepage, but it seems that the content is scraped before Zotpress can finish loading the content. The static site displays the spinning gear icon instead of the bibliography. Is there any way to make Zotpress compatible with the Simply Static plugin?

I, for one, tried the following workaround: I used WP Super Cache plugin (1.6.4) to generate a working (i.e. fully loaded) html page, thinking that maybe Simply Static would scrape that one. But no luck here either. WP Super Cache also produces cached pages in which the Zotpress content is still with the spinning gear icon, even though I turned on the “Late init. Display cached files after WordPress has loaded” setting.

I guess the trick would be that these plugins scrape the html content at a slightly later time, after the Zotpress content has loaded. But is there anything that could be done from the Zotpress side of things?
