Thanks for you help. It is greatly appreciated and comforting to know that the the back door has not been left open, so to speak. I also appreciate you going the extra mile and telling me how to delete all the edit icons.
Best wishes,

In reply to: [Newsletters] Newsletter LITE good for testing but…Here is an update on my original review, but this time it is for the pro version. Yes, I actually bought it and have spent several days getting to grips with this plugin. No plugin is perfect and, as I said previously, this is a work in progress. I would still give it 3 stars for the same reasons I gave before.
The standout difference between the free version and the pro version, and worth every cent of the price, is the excellent and prompt support from the plugin author. If I could give their support a star rating, it would be at least 5 stars. With their very patient and courteous help, I was able to navigate my way round all the intricacies of the plugin, two plugin-addons, and the premium template to produce a good quality, professional looking newsletter that I am happy to send to my mailing list.

In reply to: [Newsletters] Newsletter LITE good for testing but…The plugin author thinks I may have been a little too harsh in my original review (see above), and maybe I was. So why have I mellowed? Well, having ignored the table of shortcodes, some of which did not work, that appears below the editor, each of which has a neat little link to insert the shortcode into the editor, I used the drop down menu from the “envelope” on the tool bar. At least I could now put some content into a newsletter and, after spending time adjusting the posts to suite the template I had bought from the plugin author, I managed to produce a decent looking newsletter complete with embedded images from the original posts.
If you are considering trying this free newsletter plugin you should be aware that you will need to buy a $17 plugin-addon if you want to embed images in your newsletters. Nor should you expect top quality newsletter templates to be supplied free of charge. There is a range of templates provided with this free plugin, but I did not like any of them and so I bought one I did like from the plugin author.
So how would I now rate this plugin? I would give it 3 stars for these reasons:
1. It is not as user friendly as it could and should be.
2. The embed images plugin-addon ought be part of the main plugin, as should the tell a friend plugin-addon. I consider both to be core functions of a newsletter plugin. However both are paid for extras. Had they been included, I would have given it 4 stars.
3. This plugin is best viewed as work in progress.
In my original review, I suggested buying the pro version, and that is what I intend to do.

In reply to: [Newsletters] Newsletter LITE good for testing but…I am using WordPress 4.6.1.
These are the shortcodes that I could not get to work:
[newsletters_post post_id=”X”]
[newsletters_post_thumbnail post_id=”X”]How is “X” defined so that it relates to a specific post? I tried putting in the full post URL and the code for including the full post, but the newsletter was still blank. I tried this with the post setting set to send as a newsletter, and also with that feature turned off. It made no difference. In fact it made no difference however I tried to define “X”.
[newsletters_posts] also had no obvious way of defining what those multiple posts are.
[newsletters_post_permalink post_id=”X”]
Does what it says – it puts the permalink in the newsletter, not the content it links to. That might be useful in some situations, but I wanted the full content of the post to be in the newsletter.
Heck, I even tried adding a content area from the editor and putting the shortcodes in there, but did not work either. So there was no way that I could test the Newsletter – embedded images plugin-addon that I had bought.

In reply to: [MailPoet Newsletters (Previous)] wysija-newsletters-max image size?Hello afripasglobal,
I am glad this plugin works for you and I hope you continue to be happy with it.
Potentially, MailPoet looked to be just what I wanted, which is why I installed it. However, it did not work and there has been no feedback from the plugin’s creators – not even to say they are looking at the issues raised. I have now deleted the plugin.

In reply to: [MailPoet Newsletters (Previous)] Heading/text widget not workingAfter spending a day and a half trying to get MailPoet to work properly, I have concluded that this potentially excellent plugin works with WordPress 4.6!
I cannot create a sign-up form or widget that works consistently and reliably. Sometimes the form works for a couple of test sign-ups and then displays an error message. Other times it just does not work.
This is the error message that is displayed:
“Oops there is an error with this form:
Teststatus error
error Thrown Not Found
response Text:”Unless I can get this plugin working properly with WoprdPress 4.6 soon, I shall have to delete MailPoet and replace it with an alternative plugin.

In reply to: [MailPoet Newsletters (Previous)] wysija-newsletters-max image size? Here is an update to my previous post, which sheds some light (and a lot of gloom) over part of the problems I have encountered in using MailPoet.
I still could not put ant text in the newsletter, so (in Firefox) I right-clicked over the widget and selected “inspect element” from the drop down list. I then right-clicked on the selected HTML code and selected “edit HTML”. After a bit of trial and error I was able to insert the small amount of text that I wanted.
The problem might be that the text box was fixed at a small size and was not responding. More by luck than judgement, I was able to modify the HTML to put in the brief amounts of text that I wanted. O.K. that workround solved my immediate problem, but it still remains that the heading and text widget is not working.

In reply to: [MailPoet Newsletters (Previous)] wysija-newsletters-max image size?I am not sure if this is the right link to raise my question, but after bouncing around the MailPoet plugin and forum for several hours, this is as good a place as any.
I am usually very patient, but MailPoet has tried my patience to the point of deleting it and installing an alternative.
This is what has driven me to the point of despair:
1. After installing the plugin on my WordPress site, which uses the Twenty Thirteen theme, and making the settings as I wanted them, I tested the sign-up form. Sometimes it worked but at other times I got a form error message. The only cure seemed to be to delete the sign up form in use and create a new one. In desperation I made a fresh install of the plugin from within the settings. Since then I have not tested the sign-up form.
2. I then tried to create a newsletter for immediate delivery after somebody signs-up. The immediate problem was that no matter how I tried I could not add text to the newsletter despite dragging the text widget to the appropriate place. Nothing happened when I did as instructed on screen and tried to “click here to add text”. This design element did not work. For the record, all of the other design items worked.
Now, I notice that MailPoet has not been tested with WordPress 4.6 and maybe there is a conflict there.
On the face of it, MailPoet could be just what I need – provided it can be made to work properly.
As I said, I am a patient person and am willing to try to resolve these problems providing it can be done within a reasonable period of time. Any ideas on how to get MailPoet working properly would be appreciated.

In reply to: not displaying images in posts or media libraryHello Kit,
Thanks for the input. I have been through the checklist with a fine toothed comb.
The issue was eventually traced back to some stray code inserted in the HTACCESS file in the public_html directory (my main domain)by a plugin on another addon domain. Yet, strangly, that addon domain is working fine!
Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: WP DowngradeWell, it is pretty clear that ceosmatrixgroup’s reasonable request is not going to happen. That is unfortunate.
I have invested in premium themes for my two membership websites which I can no longer effectively administer or add to following the upgrade to WP 3.6. These sites are my livelihood.
Changing themes is not an option for all the reasons stated by ceosmatrixgroup. The only practicable solution is to manually downgrade to a previous stable version of WordPress.
The developers have said this is not a good idea. I ask them this: Which is better from a user’s point of view, a version of WordPress that is stable and works, albeit is slightly less secure OR a more secure version of WordPress that does not work in the real World?
By the way, I have a several more WordPress sites. I am not updating any of them until the issues with WP 3.6 are resolved.
