SpeakOut!

Hmmm…no, it doesn’t do that right now, but it isn’t a bad idea.
Currently when someone signs, the petition is sitting waiting to be sent to the target. Then when they confirm, the petition is actually sent. If the person has enabled BCC to themselves, they will then get a copy.
I just had a thought about this, that I could add an option for the administrator that if “confirm email address” is enabled, then it would force BCC to the signer. Would that be useful?

In reply to: [SpeakOut! Email Petitions] Email Verification ErrorG’day. no never heard of this before. What it looks like is your hosting service is using the
hostname
of the server when generating the link. The first thing I would do is install the WP SMTP plugin so that you have more control over how email is sent. If that doesn’t help, contact your hosting service and explain what is happening. Still no joy? Get in touch with me directly via https://SpeakOutPetitions.com/contactIt should not be possible to find out who has already signed the petition with their e-mail address with malicious intent.
Aha…that makes sense.
This is not possible at the moment, but given that SpeakOut! is used on sites that might be seen as controversial, I can see the value. However, if an email address succeeds, a “thank you” screen is shown. If an address fails silently, it will still indicate that the address exists in the database as there will be no “thank you”.
If that doesn’t bother you, you could always customise or delete the CSS class.tell me why you would want to do this. The database can’t hold duplicate email addresses so it seems to me that an error if it is a duplicate email address is useful.
unfortunately the moderator (who I can’t even contact) has warned me in the past. There seems to be an inflexible attitude to this.

In reply to: [SpeakOut! Email Petitions] Petition Form UIG’day and thanks for your interest. I agree that the current form is a bit dated. I am a coder, not a designer so not very good at that stuff. In the past I have asked people for their style sheet to add it as a resource but no success with that yet :o(

In reply to: [SpeakOut! Email Petitions] Admin to not receive confirmation notificationIn that case you should go to
dashboard > SpeakOut! > settings > Display BCC field
and check the box to display the BCC option. Then the signer will receive a copy of the petition.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [SpeakOut! Email Petitions] Admin to not receive confirmation notificationThe way online petitions generally work is that when a person signs it, the petition e.g. “Please build a playground”, is sent to the target, e.g. the mayor. The target email address would be the Mayor’s email.
If you don’t want to email the petition when it is signed and only want to collect signature to perhaps print a list and send them all to the mayor at once, then you should select “Do not send email (only collect signatures)”.

In reply to: [SpeakOut! Email Petitions] Admin to not receive confirmation notificationUnless you have your email address as either the
target email
or aCC
, you shouldn’t receive a copy of the petition when it is signed.Does that answer your question?
