In reply to: plugins not appearing in plugin managementI’m also having issues with images in posts. I select a photo and click upload and, in the browse area, it shows a blank box with the red X. When the post is saved, it doesn’t display the large picture, either, same little red X. It looks like the page is referring to wp-content/uploads/2007/08/dscn1635.thumbnail.jpg. But when I go to my FTP client, there wasn’t even a wp-content/uploads folder. So I greated one with 777 permissions and tried the whole thing again. Still the same. Shouldn’t WP upload the picture to the correct folder automatically? I shouldn’t have to use my FTP program each time I want a picture. What am I doing wrong? Is this problem related to the plugins issue?

In reply to: plugins not appearing in plugin managementForgive my ignorance. What is a HARD reload?

In reply to: plugins not appearing in plugin managementI do not. Only the “couldn’t open plugins directory…” message.

In reply to: plugins not appearing in plugin managementI’m sorry. Yes, I can see the little blue graphic on your link. I am looking in my FTP program and I can trace the path wp-content/plugins/akismet but there is not a .gif file in there. There is just a file called akismet.php. My WP installation ZIP doesn’t have the .gif, either. Thank you for your willingness to help me, it is greatly appreciated.

In reply to: plugins not appearing in plugin managementWait a second, that’s not me! Is something in my files referring to the wrong place? How can I fix it?

In reply to: plugins not appearing in plugin managementThank you again. I have done so. The wp-content/plugins and the plugins/akismet (which I still don’t know what it is) are both set for 755 and all four files in the plugins folder are set for 644. But I still have the same error message after refreshing. I also logged out and logged back in.

In reply to: plugins not appearing in plugin managementAnd I do not know how to change permissions for Perl and CGI. Do you have any clues for me? Thanks for you help!

In reply to: plugins not appearing in plugin managementThe promptness of your reponse is amazing. I do not have an index file in the directory. I did not know I needed one. The installation package for wp did not include such a file in that directory. I do know know what an .htaccess file is. the wp-content/plugins folder permission is currently set to 777. Do I have to change permissions for the files, too? This is so confusing!
