Just figured out how to do this myself, feeling a little silly for posting the question.

Just in case anyone else has this problem – go Appearance – Menu – then scroll to the top of the page and click on screen options. Under ‘Show advanced menu properties’ tick Link Target. Now when you look at the social media menu items a new tick box will appear which says ‘Open link in a new window/tab’ tick this box and you are sorted.

    Hi Tomas,

I’ve tried to do this, but I’m having problems posting on your site. It would be great if you could incorporate this into the next version of the plugin.

    Best wishes

    Hi sacredpath,

    Thanks for your response.

‘By’ isn’t in the actual text content yet it is in the source code, I haven’t edited the theme files. Your questions helped me look at the problem again and finally see what was causing the issue. The problem was that the Social Media Feather plugin that I was using has a icon stating their name ‘by…’, which somehow got turned into text in my project. I’ve deactivated this plugin and my local version is now fixed.

    Thank you.

    Holly
