Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [WordPress HTTPS (SSL)] Will it work on 3.6?I don’t think it is restricted to being just plugins.
The admin system since upgrading to 3.6.1 runs too slow to use (3-5 mins response between clicks) and the PHP error log has this in it…
[19-Sep-2013 17:41:13 UTC] PHP Warning: stream_get_contents(): SSL: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wp-includes\class-http.php on line 985I am using multisite , and have the wp-config set to force admin SSL, but I also run WP on IIS7 so have a valid SSL certificate installed and applied to the admin part of wordpress.
There appears to be something very wrong with the latest 3.6.x versions of wordpress and SSL.

In reply to: Network Upgrade V3.6.0 & now 3.6.1 failWell I have spent the whole day backing-up, restoring – re-installing , again and again and again.
WP Admin runs like a complete and utter dog and the PHP log is full of the following errors…
19-Sep-2013 15:48:53 UTC] PHP Warning: stream_get_contents(): SSL: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wp-includes\class-http.php on line 985

in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wp-includes\class-http.php on line 985WordPress is more or less un-usable currently!

In reply to: Network Upgrade V3.6.0 & now 3.6.1 failThis is not the problem, and I’m not taking down our entire company by switching to a rubbish template we don’t use, which will break all our systems and upset all our members.
The fact was it was an internal loopback issue where the server couldn’t access sites it hosted.
I added internal IP’s of the server in the HOSTS file and the upgrade worked.
However, the admin system is now so slow that wordpress is unusable.
I have had no choice but to downgrade to 3.5.2 again, WP 3.6.x are unusable!
Yup, and as the saying goes ‘You get what you pay for!’.
It just really grinds my gears when people start using the ‘MS’ BS as a blame for all ills when the software is meant to be platform independent!
As if we are going to spend 10’s of 1’000s of pounds to replace production servers servicing in-house systems and 50+ websites that all run perfectly fine, as a fix for a free WordPress plugin! That quite clearly doesn’t work properly on *nix OSes anyway judging by the plethora of recent complaints!
Even a plugin we bought for replicating sites has some Windows issues, but at least the author worked with me to isolate the ‘unix’ style commands causing the failure so I could amend the plugin with windows replacement shell commands!
I just hope the theme author can fix their gallery so I can forget using a plugin altogether!
Unfortunately I don’t , I’ve been looking for a decent ‘free’ plugin for a while, which is why I had high hopes for NextGen, but clearly I was misguided!
This URL may help : https://www.eugenoprea.com/10-great-wordpress-photo-gallery-plugins/
But I have found after installing a few that they seem great, until you go to use them and then find things like multiple images are only allowed if you pay for the ‘Pro’ version.
If you find one please come back and let us all know!
I’ve currently gone with the built in WP one, which is awful because the media link doesn’t work and takes you to an image page for comments, and the site doesn’t want comments!
The theme I am using has a gallery built in, but that has problems with the thumbnails not working currently, though I am at least getting real support so far from the theme creator!
It seems anything WordPress is flaky to say the least!
You’re having a laugh right?
WordPress is a PHP compatible piece of software which runs on Windows as does MySQL, you claim to be a WordPress plugin, but quite clearly this is false advertising as you now state that WordPress needs to be hosted on Linux, when it doesn’t!
You and your plugin are a joke!
To run WordPress your host just needs a couple of things:
?PHP version 5.2.4 or greater
?MySQL version 5.0 or greaterThe requirements have changed as of WordPress 3.2. The minimum requirements for WordPress 3.1 are PHP 4.3 and MySQL 4.1.2.
That’s really it. We recommend Apache or Nginx as the most robust and featureful server for running WordPress, but any server that supports PHP and MySQL will do.
This was taken from the following WordPress URL : https://www.ads-software.com/about/requirements/
NOTE the important bit ‘any server that supports PHP and MySQL will do’
You should be ashamed of yourself for spouting such lies that you are a WordPress plugin when clearly you are not!
I’m disgusted by your atrocious support, your lies and incompetence and am immediately removing your plugin and recommend everyone else does the same!
Same problem, NextGen gallery doesn’t work, all I get is a ghosted page with the word ‘Loading’ in red, when you click a thumbnail image and it then never loads.
The flash option, just shows a black box and nothing loads.
In slideshow mode all you get is a loading AJAX spinning icon and nothing ever loads.
Answers to questions below
———————————-– WordPress up to date?
Yes (3.5.1)
– NextGEN up to date?
Version: 1.9.12
– What version of NextGEN Gallery did you upgrade from? (i.e. I had 1.9.8, then upgraded to 1.9.12)
None, it’s a new install.
– MySQL up to date (at least 5.2.4)?
Software version: 5.5.25 – MySQL Community Server (GPL)– PHP up to date (at least 5.0)?
Yes (5.3)– The mod_rewrite Apache module activated?
N/A (this is Windows 2008 with IIS7)
– PHP Safe Mode OFF?
? what does that mean
Additional information that will help us find a solution:
– Who are you hosted with? It’s our own server
– What theme are you running?
RT-THEME 15
– Which plugins do you have installed and activated?
Activated:
NextGEN Gallery
Site Replicator for WordPress networks
WordPress MU Domain Mapping
WP SMTP ConfigInstalled, but inactive:
Hello Dolly– Does this error still occur if you switch your theme to the WP default, and deactivate all plugins except NextGEN Gallery? (*be sure to clear your browser cache and reload your site after deactivating)
Not going to happen, I have too many sites with too much at stake to be switching on and off themes, your plugin will go before my theme does!
Hope this can be resolved soon, my client wants to go live with their site and this is the only thing holding back the launch!
Regards,

In reply to: Can't install wordpress, mysql extensions won't load?No problem, if only it had been as simple as just re-installing.
I did that three times and got no-where.
It was only when someone helped track down the error that I found the v5.2.14 has the wrong mysql.dll files in it and that v5.3.3 has the php5isapi.dll missing from it.
3 days of banging my head before I finally got it working from both zip files!
I sure hope WordPress is easier to use ??

In reply to: Can't install wordpress, mysql extensions won't load? It’s ok , got it working.
Had nothing to do with needing IIS help, it was the fact the PHP zip files are corrupt and have the wrong files in them or missing files.
I managed to get it working by cribing files form both v5.2.14 & v5.3.3 zip files.
Total nightmare but got there in the end.
Cheers,

In reply to: Can't install wordpress, mysql extensions won't load? That’s what I thoguht which means if I can’t get it to run on IIS it’s not an option.
I have one production server runnign IIS & MS SQL, with over 40+ websites for 35+ companies, mission critical applications etc.
This is all running under windows on IIS, so apache, XAMPP or any other webserver is NOT an option.
oh well I was looking forward to getting my teeth into WordPress, guess I need to consider alteratives instead.
Never rains does it!

In reply to: Can't install wordpress, mysql extensions won't load? Thanks but still no go…infact I did the php_mbstring.dll for PHPMyAdmin, yet I still get…
The mbstring PHP extension was not found and you seem to be using a multibyte charset. Without the mbstring extension phpMyAdmin is unable to split strings correctly and it may result in unexpected results.
I’ve even copied all the extensions to the C:\PHP folder as someone suggests including the php_mbstring.dll extension but still no dice.
Interesting though… I decided to uncomment ALL SQL extensions , and lo and behold, I now have MS SQL extensions loaded just no mySQL, what is wrong with PHP 5?
On a side note, can you confirm if it’s possible to run both IIS & Apache or XAMPP on the same server? I’m assuming on any one box you can only run one web server

In reply to: Can't install wordpress, mysql extensions won't load?Nope, only ODBC.
Why not is the puzzler?

In reply to: Can't install wordpress, mysql extensions won't load?huh? I’ve done that with this code…
<?php echo phpinfo(); $inipath = php_ini_loaded_file(); if ($inipath) { echo 'Loaded php.ini: ' . $inipath; } else { echo 'A php.ini file is not loaded'; } ?>
So where am I looking in the result for the extensions and if they aren’t showing , what might be wrong with my php.ini file?
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Can't install wordpress, mysql extensions won't load?Where would I see this? under what section. A quick scan of the doc for ‘extension’ only throws up this match
extension_dir C:\PHP\ext C:\PHP\ext
The path shown for the ini file being used is correct with that code I showed….
1Loaded php.ini: C:\PHP\php.ini
So it seems to be reading the correct php.ini file, what sort of mistake might I need to look for if the extensions section is being ignored?
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Can't install wordpress, mysql extensions won't load?1. yes, my machine has been rebooted many times since also, I have run a special PHP file I put together with the following commands to ensure PHP was running and with my ini file.
<?php echo phpinfo(); $inipath = php_ini_loaded_file(); if ($inipath) { echo 'Loaded php.ini: ' . $inipath; } else { echo 'A php.ini file is not loaded'; } ?>
all seems OK.
2. I have set
extension_dir = "C:\PHP\ext"
in the ini file.un-commented
extension=php_mysql.dll extension=php_mysqli.dll
I have also ensured IIS IUSR has access to the PHP folder and the sub folder ext with ‘full control’, also the ext folder does contain the php_mysql.dll file.
I’ve ensured the environment variables are set and that the PHP folder contains the libmysql.dll
So from what I can tell no , it isn’t missing?
Got any other ideas?
