In reply to: Upgrade 3.0 GoDaddy problemIt’s still relevant to me!
Thank you for this info. I’ll try it for the next upgrade. I’ve been able to upgrade it manually, but I don’t like to. If this is an easier way, I’m all for it!
Thanks again!

In reply to: Error message: The plugin does not have a valid header.Thank you!
My issue ended up being my mixup on which files went into which folders. I had originally uploaded the free program then bought the licenced version. There was a matter of some files that needed to be deleted and some that needed to be overwritten.
Anyways, yesterday, after trying to get it to work for two days, I got the right folders into their correct folders and got it to work.
This morning, I got a reply from the developer which told me basically to do things the way I did.
But your response is very appreciated. Sometimes this stuff is complicated, and sometimes it’s really simple. But if you don’t know what you’re doing, you don’t know which one it is.
Thanks!

In reply to: auto manual update 3.0.4Oh, okay. Thanks, Ipstenu. If the address change isn’t the problem, what is? You seem to be suggesting that it could be the server? My server is with Go-Daddy. Do others have this problem, too?
The manual upgrade is, literally, copying files up. Takes as much time as the automated one, really.
In my case, the problem isn’t the manual upgrade. It’s me. Long story short: I have a blood disorder, I’ve had both strokes and bleeds which caused damage and the inability to read. I’ve progressed but I still have trouble keeping large blocks of wordy instruction and my thoughts organized. Everything takes so darned long.
Anyways, thank you for your response. Really appreciated. When this happened the last time, I called Go-Daddy but they were not able to help me.

In reply to: Upgrade 3.0 GoDaddy problemThanks for the link, macmanx. I just wanted to conclude this thread by saying I’ve even contacted Go Daddy and they also said I would have to do a manual upgrade. I’ve procrastinated long enough, but I’m going to give it a try. Thanks again for your responses.

In reply to: Upgrade 3.0 GoDaddy problemUm I thought I was upgrading. I’m also just seeing now that godaddy says I have 2.8 but my dashboard says I have 2.9. No wonder I’m confused!
In my dashboard there’s a link to upgrade but the link leads to a page with an error message: ‘You are not allowed to call this page directly.’That’s why I went to go daddy to update it. Should I not be doing that at godaddy but just through wordpress? Because I get that meassge, do I need to do a manual install?
My site is at https://www.tshirtsatfirstsite.com. Can you tell anything by looking at the view page source info?

In reply to: Upgrade 3.0 GoDaddy problemHi esmi,
Yes I did.I tried the install again today and just left it uploading, to go do other stuff, and when I finally returned I did get an error message:
Server Error:
A general server error has occurred.Seems like a pretty generic error message. Also, I thought I’d had the latest wordpress version but didn’t. I was still at 2.8. Not sure if that makes a difference. The thought of changing the url again isn’t a pleasant thought since I’m not really good at this coding stuff and I remember how confused I was changing in the first place.
At godaddy there doesnt seem to be a way of changing the url. I’m not even sure if I should. I dont want to mess anything up.
Do you think I should call GoDaddy and just ask them about updating the older address they have in their system? I would have thought that when I originally changed it, it would have changed all the way through to GD. And I’m not even sure if I should attempt a manual upgrade.
Confused as usual and any more help understanding this would be great.
