Actually, let me answer my own question… yes, it breaks other things. When I hit post or update, it craps out. It actually does update it, but it just sits there and spins in the browser.

Perhaps someone from WP can look at this fix and understand better what is happening behind the scenes and offer a better, long term solution.

That resolved my issue, but may I ask exactly what that is doing? Will that potentially break something else?

..and yes, I’ve tried downloading a fresh copy of the zip file from WP. Same behavior.

I’m actually having the same exact problem. I’ve setup a test site with a clean install of WP4.0 and nothing else installed (literally no plugins or themes) and it behaves as described above.

I’m happy to create an account for support to login and take a peak if you’d like to see if happening for yourselves.

This, by the way, is running on a Windows host. I’d be curious to know if everyone else having this issue is on a Windows host.

I’m in the same boat… same server config, etc. Tables actually get created / deleted as you mentioned but for whatever reason NextGEN can’t see them. I’m *guessing* it’s a permissions issue of some sort; but I can’t seem to find it.
