  • @palmerct, I used to use IP Geo Block until the author stopped supporting it. I loved that plug-in. Now, I use the free version of Wordfence to create a blocking rule that blocks the IP range of those I don’t want to access my site. It’s a lot of work, and it probably doesn’t do as good of job as IP Geo Block, but it does help some. I also white list my ISP’s range, so I always have access to my WP Dashboard.

I agree with TheVink about his/her comment regarding continued use of a plug-in that hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. The plug-in WAS great when the author supported it, but after he abandoned it, it became a vulnerability. It’s long past time for you to uninstall that potential hacker gateway and find something else to secure your site.

*IF* the max upload file size is limited by the hosting provider, then HOW does the “unlimited” file size from your premium product fix that? Older, FREE versions of All-in-One Migration still restore backup files that exceed 512 MB. Wouldn’t a hosting limit apply to older versions as well?

Also, WHY would the free version create a backup that’s too large to be restored?

I gave up on this plugin 4 months ago and deleted it. I really liked it, but it became too problematic for me. The author used to support it, but it appears it’s been abandoned.

I hope you get your issue resolved.

    Thanks nesoor.

I agree, Tokkonopapa is relentless in supporting his plugin. I couldn’t ask for better support. I’m going to restore my sites from a recent backup and see if that resolves my issues. I have confidence that will work.

I’m glad your issues have been resolved. Thanks for the info.

Thanks Tokkonopapa, your support is awesome!

I was able to gain access to my site, so I updated to 3.0.17.3. Now it blocks multiple plugins like Wordfence and All-in-One WP Migration. With Geo Block disabled, I have complete access those plugins.
Sorry tokkonopapa, I deleted the plugin. I loved it when it was working, but I’m always reluctant to update it for fear of what it may break. This is not the first time an update to Geo Block broke things. That said, you have ALWAYS been diligent in finding a solution. I appreciate your efforts and I wish you all the best.

I would try 3.0.17.3 but I can’t access my WP dashboard or my site.

I updated the IP Geo Block plugin yesterday, December 30, 2018 and now I am blocked out of my site. I am getting a 403 error. The error message says: “It appears you don’t have permission to access this page.
    403 Error. Forbidden”.

Could this be similar to the problem nesoor posted above?

    Thank you.

@tokkonopapa Thank you! Version 3.0.10.3 seems to be working for me. So far, I haven’t had any errors. You’re awesome!

    Thanks again,
    Doug

@mark-housel I’m not sure where to obtain a previous version to download, but I use this plugin: All-in-One WP Migration for backing up and restoring my site. It works great. I know that doesn’t help you now, but once you get IP Geo Block working right, use the Migration plugin to backup your site.

    @tokkonopapa It’s all good, tokkonopapa : )
If I can’t find a suitable replacement, I’ll restore my site from an older backup and run with a previous version of IP Geo Block. Yeah, the plugin will be out of date, but is that really a problem?

I wish you all the best.

@tokkonopapa I tried your test version, but that didn’t work either. I appreciate your help but I don’t have any more time to devote to trying to get this working. It’s a shame because I really liked this plugin. I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to try some other plugins.

I wish you all the best and hope you get this sorted out soon.

@andrebraselmann I tried your method and that didn’t work for me. Thank you for your reply and for your help!

@andrebraselmann in your post you said, “deleted line the lines 824 and 834 and i deleted “last” in line 815”. What does, “deleted line the lines” mean?

Also, did you delete the entire lines 824 and 834?

I’m assuming you only deleted the word, “last” in line 815, is that correct?

I have tried all the other posted methods to get this plugin to work again following the update, but nothing works. I would like to try your method before I give up and find a different plugin.

    Thanks!

I am still having problems with version 3.0.10.1. I have followed the above instructions and nothing works. Fortunately I have a backup of my site with an older version of IP Geo Block that still works.
