Another effect I can see…

1. Having a background image serves the image as jpg or png like I uploaded it. With this I have a pagespeed insight score from google for mobile of 71.

2. Having no background image and serving a normal image layer with the z-index plaacing it in the background serves a data-image and I get a score of 94 for mobile on PSI.

However, with the 2nd option I can’t get the image streched the the size of the layer. The ration with/high is allways correct which ends in a white space in the layer. As in the video mentioned backgroudn image is the better solution.

The PSI score is by far better and the best thing is, that the “Largest Contentful Paint” (which is a Web Vitals Score) is much much better as well as CLS (which is another Web Vital Score)

What do you suggest? Is there a way to strech an image to the with and high of the layer by changing the image ratio? …or is there a way to serve a background image as a data-image which sounds better for me?

Live test for “Enable direct redirection to existing converted images?” says everywhere ok and webp immages are there when I look into the folder with FTP.

Maybe it is just the image location which needs to be added additionaly that WebP Express knows where to look at?

Looks like the issue is gone.

My test was at 22.02.2021. There I got the PHP warnings. I haven’t done any changes in these files just in the class-uagb-post-timeline.php to change the timeline icons.

Meanwhile there was no update on your plugin if I see it right.
I have re-installed your plugin (and re-done my changes) and now I do not see the warning in the logs. However, it is done 10 minutes before, need to watch the PHP error log till tomorrow.

I’m not talking about the sitemap for the domain dlgo.de !!! This doamin I use just for image sharing and forwarding

When I open the surce code of a sitemap it says:

Why main-sitemap.xsl? The image shows the sitemap_index.xml

…what I see here is that Type is unbekannt (unknown) instead of Sitemap like the others.

Hmmm… this site tells me that webp is supported since version 3.3.11

The note with the other plugin was just a note for you that you know how I generate the webp version. This means SS3 does not need to gennerate it, just use it.

The solution you described is not realy usable because (like you mentioned) there is no fallback for browser which do not support webp.

Looks like I need to wait for your update. Think this is a very important update (together with Web Vitals) to support speed. My front page is very very quick with close to 100% Lighhouse score… if I disable SS3. For a slider SS3 is quick, but the slider is still a big performance issue with much room for improvement.

Hope you come up quickly with the update with the fallback solution (again, webp generation isn’t needed, there are enough plugins out which are doing it very well)

Just to add, I’m using the plugin “WebP Express” to serve webp images when the browser supports it.

No stress here… I just saw it in the official “jQuery Helper” plugin reported. Right now, there is no issue with it. WordPress is doing changes in jQuery since a while and finalize this with 5.7 as far as I know. So no issue right now, but maybe with the next WP release. So it is better to prepare now with no stress ??

I’m sorry… looks like it is my fault. It was an older entry in the “jQuery Migrate” logs. ?? Sometimes I’m steping on my own feeds.
