Thanks for the reply.
Could you please share the SMTP settings you’re using?
I am using the settings given by SiteGround – domain as server name, email as username and port 465. Does your plugin support this port?
It is likely the issue with the form
As I said, the new install fails/times out before the forms have been setup. It is odd that on the live site the general contact form does work, though.
If you could just answer the query about the port and anything else you can think of, I will then try the developer (they were very unhelpful when I queried a basic missing feature after the purchase).
Thanks,

In reply to: [Glossary] No terms appearing: term count not updatingAlso, the term count is still not updating, at least not using the manual update button. We shall see tomorrow if it updates using the cron job.

In reply to: [Glossary] No terms appearing: term count not updatingIt’s still not working for slugs. I don’t know why I hadn’t realised this, but under Microbiota there should have been one. I must have thought I hadn’t added the shortcode yet. But I had. However, if I put the ID, it does work.

In reply to: [Glossary] No terms appearing: term count not updatingThanks Daniele – it’s now working!
Although one thing puzzles me, it was not working either for integers or strings – I have the slug as the parameter and tried the ID number, but neither worked. Anyway, I will now add some more terms and hopefully it will all be ok.

In reply to: [Glossary] No terms appearing: term count not updatingCan you not see that the second section is actually two terms repeated?
As I said, the two terms are in separate categories. With the “tax” parameter I should be able to display only the terms in a specific category, but it is displaying all the terms. The category shortcode (listing the categories and sub-categories, appears to be working.
I have updated the page (“Glosario” = “glossary” in English…) to better reflect what I am trying to do. The first category, Microbiota (that’s the same in English) should have just one term, “Metagenoma”, the second (sub)category – “Macronutrientes” (Macronutrients) should have also one term, “Carbohídratos” (Carbohydrates) and the third one, “Micronutrientes” (Micronutrients) should be blank as it has no categories.
This is a non-profit, so until we have completed the main structure of the site and can start generating visibility and donations, we have to keep costs to a minimum and make do with the free tools available.
So far I’m afraid your lack of understanding of the issue is not giving me much confidence and I may have to look elsewhere. I do, appreciate, though, your responsiveness.

In reply to: [Glossary] No terms appearing: term count not updatingOk, I have now created a staging site and set the page status to Published.
Now I am getting a list of terms for the shortcode [glossary-terms] but the parameters are not working – I have tried with both the category slug and ID [glossary-terms tax=”25″] as per your documentation. But in all cases the shortcode lists all the terms from all categories…
By the way, for the new page I am using Gutenberg. I do have Elementor installed, but wanted to keep it simple for this one to avoid problems…
You can see the page here: https://staging3.gapsfamily.org/glosario/ (it’s in Spanish and I’ve not translated anything yet, but you’ll see what I mean. I am assuming I can translate the “Glossary Term” string at the top of the main Term page/custom post. I’m using WPML.
Thanks for the quick replies. We’re making progress!

In reply to: [Glossary] No terms appearing: term count not updatingThanks for your reply.
1. I am testing the plugin, so I haven’t got the pro version yet.
2. So far I have only created a couple of test terms, in two different categories, one of which is a subcategory.
3. The site is under development, so the page is set to private (clearly I cannot publish it until a) I have a minimum number of terms and b) the glossary is actually working as I want, not just all terms in all categories mixed together, which is how the default glossary page appears to work in the free version (hence me creating a new page using shortcodes to sort by category).

In reply to: [Glossary] No terms appearing: term count not updatingHi Daniele,
It was on a page, for which it was enabled. I have enabled for posts too, but it’s still not working (obviously, as I have no posts yet!) and the post count is still not updating. I’m aware it’s a cron job and have tried updating manually too. Neither time nor manual updating is working…Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Ultimate Product Catalog] Category filtering not workingHi @etoilewebdesign,
I’ve just started assigning products to categories, so there are plenty of items that are unassigned.
If you are suggesting that it should sort itself out when they are all assigned, then that’s fine, if not ideal (I wanted to test everything before putting to much time in).
On the other hand, I wasn’t aware of the attribute, mainly because I just used setup wizard to create the page, but I see that is an option in the Gutenberg block, so have hidden the sidebar there. Apologies for not reading (all) the FAQs.
So thanks for the explanation – and for pointing out the option I wasn’t aware of. I’ll confirm once all the products are assigned that the filtering works.
Thanks @etoilewebdesign,
I did check the plugins yes, and I use the default htaccess file. But in the end, as per your other suggestion, my hosting company, SiteGround, have identified the security rule and disabled it.
Thanks again,

In reply to: [Ultimate Product Catalog] Hide tag label (empty tags)Never mind, I deleted the staging copy as I had to update the live site and when I installed it again, I went to the options page and ticked the Show Catalogue option on the product page (I was talking about the main item page, when you click on an item in the catalog and see the details) and now it doesn’t appear.
Thanks for the prompt response and the good-looking plugin.

In reply to: [Ultimate Product Catalog] Hide tag label (empty tags)Note: categories and subcategories are hidden if not used or empty, so the same should apply to tags. IMO.

In reply to: [GDPR] Cookie settings link just darkens screenHi @benniebean,
I solved this by completing the basic settings, specifically adding cookie categories.
The new rules state that you have to specify what type of cookies you use. Being fairly ignorant about this myself, I just added two categories, “Session cookies” and “Persistent cookies”. I got generic descriptions of what these are and adapted them slightly to what I think happens in WordPress (the advantage is that it is also more or less understandable by anyone!):
Session cookies:
These cookies store information about the activities you perform during a single session. They are used to persist data about your activities as you browse through a site but are erased at the end of your session.Persistent cookies:
Really delicious cookies that leave a lasting taste in your mouth.Persistent cookies remain on your hard drive until they expire or are erased. We use these to identify you when you return to the site, for example, when you tick “remember me” on login.By adding these (GDPR > Settings > Cookies > Cookie Categories, add a name, like the ones above, then click “Add tab” then add a description like the above), it completes the basic information which is displayed when you click “Cookie Settings”.
Without this information, the plugin has nothing to display, hence the grey overlay.
I am proceeding on the basis that this shows a willingness to comply and I can fine tune the technicalities later. IMHO it’s more than sufficient as any more information and the average user won’t understand – it’s already more than most will read!
Privacy = good, information overload = bad.
The only issue is there is no link to information on how to opt out, but my guess is that a link in the Privacy Policy to one of the many webpages on cookies and the different ways to avoid or clear them in the different browsers would also be sufficient.
Hope that helps!
Arthur
p.s. This is not just about cookies, of course. If you capture other information you also need to add consents. I am on the committee for a local choir I sing in, and could use this to add consents for all the membership information we store (e.g. consent to use of photos); I imagine we will still have to do this physically, but this plugin offers the option to do it all electronically as well – so much more efficient and traceable!

In reply to: [GDPR] No way to link to privacy policyHi Fernando,
I did already, hence the comment. I save and it gets deleted…
Not a showstopper but one to look into.
Thanks so much for the support. I think I have enough to get by for now, but once the site is up and running (and so publicly visible) I may well take you up on your offer.
Re the other topic, you will see that your comments in this thread helped solve that problem too, so that’s marked as resolved too.
Thanks again!
