All the Directorist archive pages ( All Listings, Categories, Location etc. ) uses the same function to display the preview image. So, you have either wait for the next release or use the beta version ( you won’t loss any data if you follow the guide mentioned above ) to get the instant fix.

You explained your expectations very nicely. This is what we’ve understood:

You want a search bar that searches through all the listings owners and shows them the search result page. And you also want to search them by their category which will be assigned by them to their profile.

If this is what you want, then we’re sorry to say that it is not possible for now.

Your idea is amazing, but this is the first request we’ve got till now. However, we will consider it in future updates.
