How can one downgrade a version, rather than upgrade?

WordPress 3.2 has caused a fatal error with my website’s theme: perhaps if I restore the site with WordPress 3.1, the site will be restored to normal function?

Mac users don’t use Filezilla (do they?), while FTP for Macs like CyberDuck don’t offer the right-click to change writeable permissions…

“Writeable permissions”–does this term even apply to Macs?

If so, how do Macs accomplish this (please)?

Sorry: so my question was, if I upload installation files once again, won’t that knock out all the modifications I have already made to the template?…

And in any case, why wouldn’t WordPress read the original index.php page correctly?…

How about this additional kink?

I was following instructions to move “index.php” from the /wordpress/ folder to the /www/ folder. For reasons I could not determine, after adjusting the contents of the index.php folder, I still could not see the front page in www. So, I reinstalled the original index.php into the wordpress folder.

Now, not only does the page not load with themes, but I cannot log into my account!

Help!
