It shouldn’t be an issue at all. I’m a webhost as well as a blogger and I run at least 4 blogs myself on WP on my server and I know there are others. Without seeing any custom mods made to index.php, I’d say your host either recognizes that some customization is doing too much or is full of crap.

In reply to: Comments Re: WordPress functions outputing directlyIt’s been a legitimate gripe for a long time, at least with me. For all of the standards compliance an coding guidelines for developers, this is the one thing that is a glaring problem.

In reply to: Picking Dev Brainsas far as pingbacks go, it doesn’t mean that (for example) my site pings each of my hosted blogs every x minutes (be easier just to grab the RSS feeds then). it means that the blogs themselves ping my script when they’re updated. just like blo.gs or the pingomatic server.
That’s what I’m getting at. I want to be pinged by the blog when they post and then it becomes part of my blog. Now I assume the sending blog can put my xmlrpc.php in their sites to ping…. BUT…once it hits my blog, where to find that data to put in the database…?

In reply to: Picking Dev BrainsIt’s not that I am opposed to croin on its merits. It’s that it won’t work on Windows and this plugin will be released, not just internal…

In reply to: [1.5] Permalinks problemActually it must have been part of my hack. I had put something in there so that a single post would always show on the front page but then it seems, permalinks stopped functioning .Then I had the idea of a sticky post + limit 1 post per page so the specified post would always be on the front page in general. Once I did that, my permalinks worked properly.
But the trailing slash, although an optimized way of writing a permalink, would not break the system. Just add a little overhead to Apache.

In reply to: I need your feedback and suggestionsWhat I’d like to see is a little in depth about permalinks – how they are created, how they work behind the scenes. Sure, it’s really a mod_rewrite issue but everytime I setup a site with WP, I run into nagging little problems and can never seem to find insight on the issue.

In reply to: [1.5] Permalinks problemWell, that’s fine for you but I have the same problem and it is critical for me. I have added a separate hack that will display a single post as the front page so the front page will work but clicking on any link will not.
The story is is that this site, https://www.commgospel.com is not a blog but I’m using WP to run it as a CMS. My permalink structure is /%category%/%postname%/
I’m not even having luck trying to pass the post name in outside of mod_Rewrite….
Any clues

In reply to: require authentication?Digging this up but it seems to be along the lines of what I’m trying to do.
I have a system I designed as part of an intranet. As a discussion system, I’ve installed WordPress. The external system logs a user in. I want WP to check to find out if the user is logged in and if not, kick them back to the external login page. If they are logged in, allow them to view the wordpress install. Ideas?

In reply to: Integrating RSS as entrieskellan,
So basically, your plugin takes RSS feeds polled intermittently and inputs the items as entries. How many feeds are allowed? Is it configurable from wp-admin?
